Basketball Recap: Stoneman Douglas Gets the Win

Stoneman Douglas won the last time they faced Monarch, and Ayden Mclean did his part to make sure it happened again. Everything went the Stoneman Douglas Eagles' way against the Monarch Knights on Monday as the Stoneman Douglas Eagles made off with a 67-43 victory thanks in part to Mclean, who went 8 of 14 en route to 24 points. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Ortiz, who posted seven points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rebounds (three).

Monarch's loss came despite strong showings from Benjamin Boutin and Nikyle Campbell. Boutin put up eight points and 12 boards, while Campbell scored nine points and six rebounds.

Stoneman Douglas' win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Stoneman Douglas didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-39 victory against Spanish River on the 3rd. Monarch has also already played their next contest (against South Plantation), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
