Baseball Recap: Four Straight Home Victories for Washburn

Washburn posted their closest victory since April 30th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Minneapolis South Tigers 6-5. The Millers haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jackson Karn made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Karn was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Moyer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

Washburn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matches.

Washburn pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of three runs across that stretch. As for Minneapolis South, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Washburn will square off against Edina at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Minneapolis South, they will be playing at home against Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
