Volleyball Recap: Western Reserve Takes a Loss

Western Reserve was the 3-1 winner over New London when they last played one another on September 4th, but their luck changed this time around. The Roughriders fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Roughriders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Western Reserve took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. The final score came out to 25-11, 17-25, 26-28, 26-24, 15-8.

When it comes to explaining why Western Reserve lost, don't look at Makayla Case. Despite the final result, she had 15 digs and five assists. Case is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last seven games she's played. Ava-Grace Thornburg also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

Western Reserve's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for New London, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Western Reserve wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Mapleton on the 2nd. As for New London, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against South Central on the 2nd.
