Basketball Recap: L'Anse Takes a Loss

L'Anse was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 83-59 to the Forest Park Trojans. The Purple Hornets were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-22.

Despite the defeat, L'Anse saw an underclassman step up: freshman Sam Lee posted 18 points along with five assists and five boards. The match was Lee's seventh in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maysen Thompson, who scored eight points.

Even though they lost, L'Anse smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

L'Anse's loss dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Forest Park, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season.

L'Anse didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-48 defeat against Johnston on the 21st. Forest Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
