Basketball Recap: Shelby-Rising City Huskies vs. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles
Even though the Shelby-Rising City Huskies have not done well against the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Shelby-Rising City blew past the Eagles 53-30. This was payback for Shelby-Rising City, who suffered a 59-32 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Ava Larmon was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taya Pinneo, who scored 13 points.
The win got Shelby-Rising City back to even at 8-8. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shelby-Rising City will take on the Titans at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. That match will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Natalie Tietjen and Pinneo. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, they will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. McCool Junction is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.6 points per game this season.
