Softball Recap: Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran Takes a Loss

Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran dropped their record down to 7-6 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They lost 8-1 to the Melrose-Mindoro Mustangs. The Lancers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mustangs from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Kloke, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Melrose-Mindoro, their record now sits at 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

On Melrose-Mindoro's side, Emma Severson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). Severson has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Cooper Zeman was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Opal Buchanan, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

When Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran and Melrose-Mindoro next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. The Lancers will challenge Augusta and their three-game winning streak at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Melrose-Mindoro will try to stop Arcadia's five-game winning streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
