Baseball Recap: Pinellas Park Sets Scoring Season-High Against Anclote

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pinellas Park). They walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Anclote Sharks on Thursday. The Patriots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Sharks, too.

Kingston Le looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Pinellas Park is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Dean Ross and Neil Rothrock did most of the damage at the plate: Ross scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Rothrock scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave Rothrock a new career-high in RBI (three). Daunte Dixon also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Pinellas Park always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Pinellas Park's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Anclote, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinellas Park will face off against Tarpon Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Tarpon Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Anclote, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Hudson at 7:00 p.m.
