Morgan County barely beat Jackson City the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Cougars have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Cooper Fleming, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Fleming, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Morgan County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jackson City only posted an OBP of .300.
Morgan County now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Jackson City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-9.
Looking ahead, Morgan County will be playing at home against Breathitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jackson City, they will head out to take on Phelps at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
