Basketball Recap: Ayden Padgett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Liberty over Jefferson Forest

Liberty was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 62-54 to the Jefferson Forest Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 56-46 last Tuesday.

Liberty lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ayden Padgett, who posted 12 points and seven rebounds. He has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Eli Stevens, who put up 11 points.

Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Jefferson Forest, their win bumped their record up to 8-12.

Liberty didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-48 defeat against Heritage on the 13th. As for Jefferson Forest, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 60-41 victory against Brookville on the 13th.
