Softball Game Preview: Oxon Hill Clippers vs. International High School at Largo Sea Turtles

Oxon Hill is a perfect 3-0 against International High School at Largo since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Clippers will venture away from home to challenge the Sea Turtles at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Oxon Hill has three straight victories, International High School at Largo has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Oxon Hill barely beat Gwynn Park the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Clippers blew past the Yellowjackets 17-0 on Tuesday. Fans of the Clippers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Kennedy Woodruff made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over four innings pitched. Woodruff was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Oxon Hill let Avril Frazier and Sydney Carter run wild. Frazier scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Carter scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave Frazier a new career-high. Tyler Hilliard was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Oxon Hill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .686 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

International High School at Largo kicked off their season on the road two weeks ago and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 30-5 to Crossland.

Oxon Hill's record now sits at 3-0. As for International High School at Largo, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
