Flag Football Recap: Leyden Comes Up Short

Leyden scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were dealt a 39-7 loss at the hands of the Lyons Lions. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Lions are ranked 20th).

Leyden's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Lyons, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Leyden will take on rival Niles North at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Lyons is set to square off against their familiar foe Hillcrest at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Lions have won six straight at home, while the Hawks won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
