Football Recap: Easley Green Wave vs. Mauldin Mavericks

Easley lost against Mauldin back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Green Wave came up short against the Mavericks, falling 49-24. The Green Wave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Easley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Josiah Coleman, who threw for 237 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 58 yards and one score. Jeremiah Patton helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards.

Easley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kaiden Erby. He is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Easley got some further help from Kobe Preston: he made 14 total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Reddick Langston was his usual excellent self, rushing for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten carries, while also throwing for 211 yards and three TDs on only 18 passes for Mauldin. Those 161 rushing yards gave Langston a new career-high. Mauldin's leading receiver Tamari Shepherd was Langston's top target yet again, picking up 99 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Easley now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mauldin, their victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 3-4.
