Recap: Dunbar Wolverines vs. Thurgood Marshall Cougars
After losing to the Thurgood Marshall Cougars the last time they met, the Dunbar Wolverines decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Dunbar walked away with a 58-48 victory over the Cougars on Friday. Given Dunbar's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Cougars are ranked 537th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dunbar's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jimmy Hill iv led the charge by scoring 19 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lester Brown, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Dunbar's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Thurgood Marshall, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dunbar won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Cardinals at 4:30 p.m. on January 27th. Spring Mills will be coming into the game with an undefeated record on the line. As for Thurgood Marshall, they will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
