Softball Preview: Lincoln County Patriots vs. Cooper Jaguars
The Lincoln County Patriots will take on the Cooper Jaguars at 11:45 a.m. on Friday. Lincoln County's hitters haven't had much luck over their past five games, but Friday's contest will give them a chance to turn things around.
Thursday just wasn't the day for Lincoln County's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 19-0 to Simon Kenton, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cooper). They blew past Conner 20-10 last Wednesday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Jaguars as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Ainsley Scroggie was a standout: she scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Kat Furnish was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Cooper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They got nine more hits than Conner's also-impressive total of 11.
Cooper's victory bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Lincoln County, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
