Volleyball Game Preview: Highlands Ranch Falcons vs. Castle View Sabercats

For the first time this season, Highlands Ranch will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After both having extra time off, they and the Castle View Sabercats will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Highlands Ranch's tournament run continued when they took on Centaurus on Saturday. Highlands Ranch fell 2-0 to Centaurus.

While Highlands Ranch was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Castle View faced Cherry Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Friday. Castle View came out on top against Cherry Creek by a score of 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Sabercats sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

The victory didn't come easy: Cherry Creek scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-23, 20-25, 29-27.

Highlands Ranch dropped their record down to 1-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Their recent woes sure aren't a result of their performance when it comes to aces: they averaged an imposing 6.14 aces in those games compared to only 2.33 in the others. As for Castle View, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Highlands Ranch came up short against Castle View in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 3-1. Thankfully for Highlands Ranch, Jack Liam McGovern (who had 18 digs and two aces) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
