Basketball Recap: Patuxent Comes Up Short

Patuxent was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a blow against the Westlake Wolverines, falling 78-33. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Patuxent had strong showings from Kamauri Jones, who went 5 of 9 en route to 15 points, and Shane Lawrernce, who posted no points.

Westlake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Darius Kemper, who made all 7 shots he took for 17 points and four steals. Kemper's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyrek Jordan, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 12 points and five steals.

Patuxent's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Westlake, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Patuxent will venture away from home to face off against McDonough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Westlake, they will head out on the road to square off against Leonardtown at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
