Volleyball Recap: Hinsdale Central Comes Up Short

Hinsdale Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Downers Grove North Trojans. The Red Devils were not able to make up for their loss to the Trojans from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Hinsdale Central sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-17.

Bjorn Vinje paced Hinsdale Central's offense, picking up nine kills. Vinje got some help from Harry Hughes and his 20 assists. Finally, Dane Beringer kept Hinsdale Central's defense grounded, leading the team with three blocks.

Hinsdale Central's defeat dropped their record down to 7-22. As for Downers Grove North, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-4 record this season.

Hinsdale Central will host Lockport at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downers Grove North, they are taking a road trip to take on Berwyn/Cicero Morton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
