Football Recap: Redondo Union Takes a Loss

Redondo Union fell victim to Mira Costa and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Mustangs and fell 31-0. The Sea Hawks haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Cole Leinart threw for 108 yards on 12 of 19 attempts. Lincoln Esparza was his top target, picking up 54 receiving yards.

Mira Costa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Liam Meeker out in front who threw for 241 yards and three touchdowns on only 19 passes. Those three passing touchdowns gave Meeker a new career-high. A healthy portion of Meeker's aerial production (101 yards to be exact) went to Luke Meeker, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Redondo Union's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Mira Costa, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Redondo Union will head out to take on Huntington Beach at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mira Costa, they will venture away from home to square off against La Habra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
