Walker named PARADE All-American

Lincoln County (Panaca) guard Dantley Walker was named a first-team PARADE All-American on Monday. Walker, who has given a verbal commitment to UNLV, was one of 10 players named to the first team that included Player of the Year Austin Rivers of Winter Park (Fla.).

Findlay Prep (Henderson) point guard Myck Kabongo was on the fourth team.

The 5-foot-11 Walker averaged 36.2 points, 10.2 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 steals per game as a senior. He finished his career as Nevada's all-time leading scorer with 3,304 points and owns the state record for most career assists (887).

The Class 2A player of the year, Walker set state records for points in a game (73) and assists in a game (22). He led the Lynx (24-7) to the 2A Southern League semifinals.

ACES HOST THREE HIGH SCHOOL GAMES
Three high school baseball games this season will take place at Aces Ballpark, the home of the Pacific Coast League's Reno Aces, the team announced on Friday.



The games are: Truckee (Calif.) vs. South Tahoe (South Lake Tahoe, Calif.) at 4 p.m., April 6; Wooster (Reno) vs. North Valleys (Reno) at 2:30 p.m., April 9; and McQueen (Reno) vs. Spanish Springs (Sparks) at 4 p.m. May 6.

Admission to the games is free. It is the second straight year the stadium has hosted high school games, including last season's 4A state tournament.

CONNER OLIVER SIGNS WITH WILLISTON STATE
Dayton shortstop/pitcher Conner Oliver signed with Williston State College, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.
Oliver had a 2.47 ERA with 83 strikeouts in 62 1/3 innings as he made the 3A All-Northern Region team as a junior.

"We are very happy with the signing of Conner because he helps us fill multiple openings that we are going to have from our graduating sophomores," Williston coach Shawn Cote said in a news release.

Williston is a two-year community college in North Dakota.

FALLON OFFICIALS CLEARED IN HAZING INCIDENT
The Fallon city attorney's office cleared four Fallon High officials last week of any criminal wrongdoing in a high-profile hazing incident that took place in December, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.



Fallon athletic director Brad Daum, principal Kevin Lords and wrestling coaches Mitch Overlie and Matt Reibsamen had been accused of failing to report the hazing activity involving a 15-year-old student.

Overlie and Reibsamen had a disciplinary hearing conducted by the board of trustees last week and the school district's investigation into the incident remains open, the newspaper reported.

The hazing took place in a hotel room in Las Vegas, where the team was for a tournament. The victim was taped to a table, locked outside and later urinated on, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.

No charges were filed against any members of the Fallon wrestling team, but four students were suspended for the remainder of the school year in January, according to the paper.
