Basketball Recap: Banff Comes Up Short

Banff was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against the Humble Christian Cougars, falling 38-13. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-5.

Humble Christian was led to victory by Lilly McMullen and Deriyah Williams. McMullen dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Williams posted eight points and three steals. What's more, McMullen also racked up two assists, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Vera, who put up five points.

Banff's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Humble Christian, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Banff will host Shady Acres Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Humble Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cornerstone Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Humble Christian: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Cornerstone Christian Academy has snatched up four consecutive wins on the road.
