Baseball Recap: Smithville Smithies vs. Hillsdale Falcons
Smithville extended their losing streak to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 3-15 in the process. They lost 10-0 to the Hillsdale Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-5 loss back in April.
As for Hillsdale, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-8. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.
For Hillsdale's part, Kael Lewis made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Lewis was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with seven RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kyle Turk was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Deacon Boreman was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
As of now, neither Smithville nor Hillsdale have any future games scheduled.
