The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Leyden nor Berwyn/Cicero Morton made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Mustangs. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by just one run.

Arianna Gallo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

Leyden's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Leyden is set to challenge their familiar foe Proviso East at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton will face off against rival Addison Trail at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
