Football Recap: San Diego Comes Up Short on the Road Against George West

San Diego kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They took a hard 36-21 fall against the George West Longhorns. The Vaqueros were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Longhorns apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Despite the loss, San Diego still got an impressive performance from Jake Salinas, who threw for 193 yards and two TDs while completing 85% of his passes, and also rushed for 63 yards on only six carries.

Kohen Blount had a dynamite game For George West., rushing for 121 yards and a pair of scores. Blount didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made three total tackles.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Diego will face off against Rockport-Fulton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for George West, they are headed away from home for the first time to square off against Mathis at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
