Volleyball Recap: Talia Rishel and Michelina Wayt Secure Win for Howland

Howland took a three-set loss the last time they faced off against Louisville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tigers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Leopards on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Howland had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. The final score came out to 21-25, 28-26, 25-20.

Leading Howland to victory were Michelina Wayt and Talia Rishel. Wayt had 21 digs, while Rishel had 35 assists and 15 digs. Rishel has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 25 times she's played.

When it comes to explaining why Louisville lost, don't look at Karis Miglich. Despite the final result, she had 14 digs and one assist. Aubrey Johnston was another key player, getting nine digs and one assist.

Howland's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Louisville, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.

Looking ahead, Howland is taking a road trip to square off against Austintown-Fitch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Louisville, they will host Norton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
