The Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy Ospreys waltzed into their game on Tuesday with four straight wins but they left with five. They snuck past Timberlake Christian with a 43-37 win. That's another feather in the cap for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy to victory were Jordan White and Karlee Smith. White scored nine points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Smith scored 14 points along with two steals. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Sierra Moore was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Timberlake Christian's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Emma Luther, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds, and Allie Mooney who scored ten points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mooney has scored all season.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Timberlake Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will face off against Westover Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westover Christian Academy will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Timberlake Christian, they will head out on the road to square off against Temple Christian at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Temple Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
