Basketball Recap: Christ the King Extends Home Winning Streak to Ten

Christ the King hadn't done well against Community School of Davidson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Christ the King Crusaders sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Community School of Davidson Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Crusaders have posted against the Spartans since January 8, 2020.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christ the King to victory, but perhaps none more so than Audrey Gorman, who posted 16 points and six rebounds. That's the most points Gorman has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lucy Gorman, who earned 11 points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Christ the King was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Community School of Davidson only racked up six assists.

Community School of Davidson lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Aubrey Mccormick, who had 11 points and four steals. Olivia Stewart was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Christ the King pushed their record up to 16-4 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.0 points over those games. As for Community School of Davidson, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-7.

Looking ahead, Christ the King will challenge Lincoln Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Charter will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Christ the King surely won't give up without a fight. As for Community School of Davidson, they will head out on the road to square off against Pine Lake Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th.
