Basketball Recap: Locust Grove Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Tyler Wiggins and Cayson King

Locust Grove was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. The contest between them and the Wagoner Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Locust Grove Pirates falling 76-58. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 63rd).

Locust Grove's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cayson King, who went 7-for-13 on his way to 20 points and five boards, and Tyler Wiggins, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. King is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Kannon Blakemore was another key player, putting up three points.

Locust Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Wagoner, their win bumped their record up to 13-5.

Locust Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 69-52 victory against Salina on the 10th. As for Wagoner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, an 81-52 win against Catoosa on the 11th.
