Baseball Game Preview: Galax Maroon Tide vs. Bland County Bears

Galax is on a seven-game streak of home losses, and Bland County a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Galax Maroon Tide will be playing at home against the Bland County Bears at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Galax came up short against Fort Chiswell on Tuesday, falling 12-2.

Galax saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trey Markham, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Markham has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Bland County lost 15-3 to Auburn last Tuesday.

Carson Holbrook was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

In other pitching news, Bland County got a good showing from Kameron Thompson, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits Thompson has allowed since back in March.

Bland County's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Galax, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-17.
