Basketball Recap: Kayla Fudge Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Pine Lake Prep

Mountain Island Charter was handed a 31-point loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pine Lake Prep Pride 33-30. This was a revenge game for the Raptors: when they faced off against the Pride back in January, they had to take a 37-26 defeat.

Mountain Island Charter's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayla Fudge, who posted six points in addition to 11 rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards Fudge has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Tarriah Washington, who earned nine points and seven steals.

Pine Lake Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Raegan Blickley, who had seven points.

With the win, Mountain Island Charter broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-9. As for Pine Lake Prep, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Mountain Island Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-20 victory against Langtree Charter Academy on the 4th. Pine Lake Prep has also already played their next contest, a 49-38 loss against Lincoln Charter on the 4th.
