Jackson Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They snuck past the Presbyterian Christian Bobcats with a 24-20 victory on Friday. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while the Bobcats are ranked 103rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Omarean Ellis, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 105 rushing yards. Pruet James was another key player, throwing for 273 yards on only 16 passes.

Jackson Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-3. As for Presbyterian Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-6.

Jackson Academy will square off against Jackson Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson Prep knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past ten matches -- so hopefully Jackson Academy likes a good challenge. Presbyterian Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
