Football Recap: New Deal Piles Up the Points Against Sundown

There's no place like home for New Deal, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 41-12 win over the Sundown Roughnecks. The Lions' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Among those leading the charge was Dallas Sumner, who threw for 93 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 54 yards on only five carries. That's the most passing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Jackson Attebury, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for New Deal, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Attebury, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

New Deal now has a winning record of 2-1-1. As for Sundown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Deal will host Lubbock Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sundown, they will welcome Roosevelt at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
