Basketball Recap: Attica Finds Playoff Glory Versus Minneola

With a playoff win on the line, Attica rose to the challenge on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Minneola Wildcats 66-30. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Attica's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cady Hemphill, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Hemphill's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Liberty Swingle, who shot 57% from the field en route to 22 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Attica was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Minneola only one assist.

Minneola's loss came despite strong showings from Rhianne Swonger and Braegen Shelor. Swonger went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points, while Shelor posted eight points. Swonger has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

Attica pushed their record up to 18-3 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.8 points on average over those games. As for Minneola, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

We've got a battle between Bulldogs coming up. Ingalls will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Attica surely won't give up without a fight. Minneola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
