Baseball Recap: Wayne County Victorious

It was a proper cat-fight when Wayne County faced off against Lewis County on Saturday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 5-2. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Panthers on their field since April 1, 2017.

Weston Todd made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Todd was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other batting news, Jacan Floyd was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Warren Camfield, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Wayne County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 2-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win got Wayne County back to even at 3-3. As for Lewis County, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wayne County will host McNairy Central at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Lewis County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hickman County at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
