The Ripon Indians will take on the Ripon Christian Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ripon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Ripon lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Orestimba, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's contest. The Indians claimed a resounding 49-0 win over the Warriors. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Ripon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ace Dougherty led the charge by rushing for 120 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Dougherty really tore up the turf during one magnificent 76-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Becerra, who rushed for 68 yards and a pair of scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Ripon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 322 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 180 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Mike Evans, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Ripon Christian earned a 21-14 victory over Hughson last Friday.
Ripon Christian's win came from a few key players Ripon will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Mason Tameling, who threw for 127 yards and two TDs, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Ripon Christian's leading receiver Amos Cady was Tameling's top target yet again, picking up 70 receiving yards and one score.
Ripon pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.5 points over those games. As for Ripon Christian, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Ripon has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 353.2 total yards per game. It's a different story for Ripon Christian, though, as they've been averaging only 227.8 total yards.
