Homewood owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 27-0 victory over the Briarwood Christian Lions. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Patriots had established a 20-point advantage.

Kaleb Carson was the offensive standout of the game as he threw for 174 yards and one TD, and also rushed for 56 yards. Another player making a difference was Tomon Felton, who picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Homewood's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Henry Templeton, Charlie Dabbs, and Dennis White Jr, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Homewood has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points this season. As for Briarwood Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Homewood and Briarwood Christian will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Patriots will square off against rival Mortimer Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Briarwood Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Ramsay at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
