Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ben Reese and Elijah Brown Lead Chesnee to Victory

Chesnee hadn't done well against Landrum recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Everything went the Chesnee Eagles' way against the Landrum Cardinals as the Chesnee Eagles made off with a 76-51 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season.

Leading Chesnee to victory were Elijah Brown and Ben Reese. Brown went 11 of 18 on his way to 30 points in addition to eight boards and six assists, while Reese went 7 for 13 on his way to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Barnett, who posted eight points and 11 rebounds.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Chesnee was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Landrum only racked up eight assists.

When it comes to explaining why Landrum lost, don't look at Benett Edwards. Despite the final result, he put up 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Tidwell, who had ten points.

Chesnee's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Landrum, their loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-5.

Chesnee will face off against Greenville Tech Charter at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Chesnee's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Greenville Tech Charter has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. As for Landrum, they will square off against High Point Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in High Point Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 contests.
