Softball Recap: Thursday's Loss Ends Jefferson's Winning Streak

Jefferson dropped their record down to 11-13 on Thursday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins. They lost 14-3 to the Hononegah Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-0 back in April.

As for Hononegah, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

For Hononegah's part, Samantha Nosbisch looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nosbisch has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kaelyn Kelly was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Alexis Eich was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three doubles, and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jefferson is set to take on their familiar foe Rockford East at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Hononegah will face off against rival Belvidere at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
