Basketball Game Preview: Oliver Springs Bobcats vs. North Greene Huskies

The Oliver Springs Bobcats will venture away from home to challenge the North Greene Huskies on Monday. Oliver Springs has given up an average of 52.9 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week.

Oliver Springs is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Harriman just ended the team's ten-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 61-59. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bobcats have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Despite the defeat, Oliver Springs got top-tier performance from Ethan Jones, who shot 52% from the field en route to 30 points and four steals. Jones' evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Zachary Hamby was another key player, going 6-for-7 on his way to 15 points.

Even though they lost, Oliver Springs was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. This was only their seventh loss (out of 26 games) when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, North Greene waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 17 straight wins... but they left with 18. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 45-39 W against the Eagles. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Eagles are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Oliver Springs' loss dropped their record down to 20-14. As for North Greene, their victory bumped their record up to 26-4.

Oliver Springs was dealt a bruising 79-35 defeat at the hands of North Greene in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. Can Oliver Springs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
