Basketball Recap: Hooper Bay Comes Up Short

Hooper Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Chevak Comets 66-37. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-52 on Friday.

Chevak's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Shaneil Slats, who posted 21 points. Those 21 points gave Slats a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kali Hill, who scored 14 points.

Hooper Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Chevak, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Hooper Bay will be taking part in a tournament against Petersburg at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Hooper Bay is facing Petersburg at the right time seeing as Petersburg is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Chevak does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
