Softball Recap: Gobles' Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Gobles came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Martin Clippers 12-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 on Tuesday.

Daisy Jackson was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Riley Johnson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Erica Barber, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Gobles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .360 or higher in six consecutive contests.

Gobles pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Martin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Coming up, Gobles will be playing in front of their home fans against Climax-Scotts at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 13.9 runs per game this season. As for Martin, they will head out to take on Plainwell at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
