Softball Recap: Keystone Triumphs

Keystone won the last time they faced Black River and things went their way on Thursday too. The Wildcats came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.

Macie Banks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ava Armitage, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailee Zealley, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Keystone's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Black River, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Keystone will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Avon at 12:00 p.m. As for Black River, they will head out on the road to face off against Medina at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bees have averaged an impressive 13.6 runs per game this season.
