Football Recap: Zapata Hawks vs. Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees
After flying high against Valley View last Thursday, Zapata came back down to earth. The Hawks lost to the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees at home by a 34-17 margin on Friday. The Hawks gained 130 more yards on the day, but it was the Warriors & Cherokees that made the best use of them.
When it comes to explaining why Zapata lost, don't look at Jay Solis. Despite the final result, he picked up 97 receiving yards, and also rushed for 65 yards on only eight carries.
Damian Figueroa had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 220 yards and two TDs while picking up 11.6 yards per carry for Tuloso-Midway. Figueroa really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Zapata's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Tuloso-Midway, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Zapata didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 54-14 loss against Calhoun on the 14th. As for Tuloso-Midway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 44-24 defeat against Bay City on the 15th.
