Softball Recap: Fairfax HomeSchool Takes a Loss

The Fairfax HomeSchool Hawks didn't have quite enough to beat the Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Patriots on Saturday and fell 5-4. The matchup marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Madison Shaw was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She struck out 16 batters over 10.1 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases and one run.

Fairfax HomeSchool's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.

While Fairfax HomeSchool had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
