Softball Recap: John Champe Knights vs. Briar Woods Falcons
John Champe had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-12 to make it eight. They lost 14-3 to the Briar Woods Falcons. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Knights have suffered against the Falcons since March 23, 2017.
Nicole Teetz was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.
As for Briar Woods, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10. Considering they have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
On Briar Woods' side, Anannya Jadhav made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Jadhav has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.
In other batting news, Zoe Polcen was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Gabbie Cornista, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
