Basketball Recap: Edwards County Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Webber

Edwards County proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 34) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Webber Trojans 50-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lions' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 221st, while the Trojans are ranked 99th).

Edwards County's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 23.5 points per game. As for Webber, they moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their seven-game winning streak.
