Baseball Game Preview: St. John Bosco Braves vs. Santa Margarita Eagles

The St. John Bosco Braves will square off against the Santa Margarita Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with St. John Bosco sitting on 15 straight victories and Santa Margarita on seven.

St. John Bosco is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Corona a 2-0 shutout.

Trevor Heishman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 6.1 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March.

At the plate, James Clark was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

On Tuesday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Santa Margarita blew past Crespi 12-0. The Eagles not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th (when they won 16-2).

St. John Bosco pushed their record up to 26-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Santa Margarita, their win bumped their record up to 20-12.

St. John Bosco beat Santa Margarita 6-1 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Braves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
