Basketball Recap: Reece Beaver's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Greensburg over Brownstown Central

Greensburg lost against Brownstown Central back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Greensburg Pirates fell 68-55 to the Brownstown Central Braves. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Braves are ranked 17th).

Greensburg lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reece Beaver, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Bowman, who made all 5 shots he took for 10 points.

Greensburg has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Brownstown Central, the win keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.

Greensburg didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 65-40 victory against South Decatur on the 25th. As for Brownstown Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge Austin at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Brownstown Central's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
