Hoover entered their tilt with Roosevelt on Friday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Rough Riders by a score of 9-4. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 back in April.

Hazel Martinez made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Martinez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Keilana Duron, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Layla Jimenez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one run.

Hoover's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Roosevelt, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-12.

Hoover didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 23-5 win against San Joaquin Memorial on the 6th. As for Roosevelt, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-2 victory against Fresno on the 6th.
