MaxPreps Top 25 high school baseball national rankings

IMG Academy moves back into the No. 1 spot after Colleyville Heritage loss.

IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) returns to the top of the MaxPreps Top 25 National Baseball Rankings after previous No. 1 Colleyville Heritage (Colleyville, Texas) dropped its second game of the season.

The Ascenders won their only game of the week, blowing out Gulf Coast 10-1. The loss dropped Colleyville Heritage to No. 5 overall.

Last year's No. 1 team Argyle (Texas) moved into the No. 2 spot with a pair of wins last week. Cypress Ranch (Houston) comes in at No. 3. The two Texas teams have one more week of district play before playoffs begin.

Previously undefeated teams New Hanover (Wilmington, N.C.) and St. Laurence (Burbank, Ill.) both lost in tournament play last week. New Hanover lost in the final of its tournament, falling to T.C. Roberson (Asheville, N.C.) while St. Laurence fell to De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) at the All-Catholic Classic in Las Vegas.



De La Salle's win allowed it to move up to No. 16 overall after entering the rankings last week at No. 22.

New Teams: No. 19 Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), No. 20 Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), No. 21 Sam Houston (Lake Charles, La.), No. 23 Prosper (Texas), No. 24 Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.).

Dropped out: No. 18 Westminster Christian (Miami), lost twice; No. 20 Calvary Christian (Clearwater, Fla.), lost once; No. 21 Ridge Pointe (Missouri City, Texas), lost once; No. 24 St. Rita (Chicago), lost once; No. 25 Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.), lost once.

On the Bubble: Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.), 21-5; Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), 20-6; Yucaipa (Calif.), 21-5; Biloxi (Miss.), 25-3; Huntington Beach (Calif.), 20-6; Stoneman Douglas (Parkland, Fla.), 16-2; Parkway (Bossier City, La.).

Player of the Week: Silas Ardoin of Sam Houston helped his team get back into the Top 25 as he had a home run against Barbe and a double and two home runs against Sulphur.

Prospect of the Week: Parker Noland, Farragut. One of the top infielders in the country, Noland had a huge week in five wins for the Admirals. He batted 7-for-11 (.636) with three home runs, three doubles and six RBI. For the season, Noland is batting .481 with 38 RBI, 12 doubles and five home runs.



Game of the Week: TC Roberson (Asheville, N.C.) defeated New Hanover (Wilmington, N.C.) 2-1. Previously undefeated New Hanover rallied for a single run in the seventh inning, but couldn't overcome Roberson's 2-0 lead. The loss dropped New Hanover from No. 4 to No. 9 in the national rankings.

Game to Watch: Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.) vs. Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks, Calif.). The two teams played three times this week with the championship of the Mission League on the line. Harvard-Westlake is 13-1-1 in league play and Notre Dame is 13-2.

Streaks: Page County (Shenandoah, Va.) has now won 39 games in a row after beating Strasburg 13-0 and Stuarts Draft 3-0. T.R. Williams struck out nine against Stuarts Draft and Tristan Gordon had a home run against Stuarts Draft and two against Strasburg.

1. (last week 2) IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.), 19-1
Results: Defeated Gulf Coast (Naples) 10-1.
Stats: Rece Hinds had a double and a home run against Gulf Coast, going 4-for-5. Kendall Williams struck out 12 in the win.
This week: Charlotte (Punta Gorda) on Wednesday, Jesuit (Tampa) on Saturday.

2. (3) Argyle (Texas), 26-1-1
Results: Defeated Decatur 2-0 and Bridgeport 7-3, South Grand Prairie 9-7
Stats: Chad Ricker pitched the shutout against Decatur, striking out eight. Dillon Carter had a triple and a home run and Brenden Dixon had a home run against Bridgeport. Carter and Preston King each had a double against South Grand Prairie.
This week: Springtown on Tuesday and Krum on Friday.

3. (6) Cypress Ranch (Houston), 25-2-1
Results: Defeated Bryan 3-2 and 11-0.
Stats: Matt Thompson struck out 12 in a 3-2 win over Bryan while J.J. Goss threw a five-inning no-hitter with nine strikeouts. He also hit a triple while Jake Combs hit two home runs and Jared Alvarez-Lopez had one.
This week: Plays Tomball Memorial on Tuesday and Friday.



4. (7) Georgetown (Texas), 28-2-1
Results: Defeated Hutto 4-0 and 3-2.
Stats: Wyatt Childress went 3-for-3 with a double in the first game, while Ty Tilson had two doubles in the second game.
This week: Rouse (Leander) on Thursday, Friday.

5. (1) Colleyville Heritage (Colleyville, Texas), 26-2
Results: Defeated Brewer 11-1 and 1-0, lost to Bell (Hurst), 8-0.
Stats: Bobby Witt Jr. had a triple and a home run, Logan Britt had two doubles and Jacob Guerrero had a home run in the 11-1 win over Brewer. Mason Greer had the only run in the second game against Brewer with a home run.
This week: Grapevine on Tuesday and Friday.

6. (10) Lake Travis (Austin, Texas), 25-2
Results: Defeated Del Valle 17-0.
Stats: Brett Baty had two home runs and three RBI, while Jimmy Lewis was 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI.
This week: Hays (Buda) on Tuesday, Anderson (Austin) on Friday, Kingwood on Saturday.

7. (5) Orange Lutheran (Orange, Calif.), 22-4
Results: Lost to Servite (Anaheim) 3-1, defeated Servite 1-0 (8) and 4-3.
Stats: Jonathan Guzman struck out nine against Servite in the 1-0 win, but Evan Adolphus got the win, striking out five. Chad Born and Garrett Frechette each had a double in the final game.
This week: Mater Dei on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

8. (11) Harvard-Westlake (Studio City, Calif.), 22-3-1
Results: Defeated Loyola (Los Angeles) 7-1, 15-1 and 7-5 (9).
Stats: Tyler Cox and JP Corrigan each homered in the first game, Pete Crow-Armstrong was 3-for-3 with two RBI in the second game and Jacob Galloway was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the third game.
This week: Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

9. (4) New Hanover (Wilmington, N.C.), 16-1
Results: Defeated Garner Magnet (Garner) 7-0, Ashley (Wilmington) 2-1 and Heritage (Wake Forest) 8-4, lost to T.C. Roberson (Asheville) 2-1.
Stats: Blake Walston struck out 13 in a win over Garner Magnet.
This week: E.A. Laney (Wilmington) on Wednesday, Topsail (Hampstead) on Friday.



10. (12) Cypress (Calif.), 24-3
Results: Defeated Kennedy (La Palma) 5-2 and 4-0.
Stats: Braden Murphy was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI while Garett Crenshaw had a home run in the second game.
This week: Crean Lutheran on Tuesday, Thursday.

11. (13) DeSoto Central (Southaven, Miss.), 26-2
Results: Defeated Southaven 16-2 and Lewisburg 7-1.
Stats: Wesley Sides and Chase Honeycutt each hit a home run against Southaven while Blaze Jordan had a double and a home run against Lewisburg.
This week: Warren Central (Vicksburg) first round of Class 6A playoffs.

12. (14) Mountain View (Mesa, Ariz.), 21-3
Results: Defeated Dobson (Mesa) 12-10 and 4-0 and Valley Vista (Surprise) 4-2.
Stats: Jeramy Krause hit a home run in the first game against Dobson, while Travis Densmore struck out 10 in the second game. McKay Barney went 3-for-3 against Valley Vista.
This week: Playoffs.

13. (15) Blanchard (Okla.), 29-0
Results: Defeated Byng (Ada) 10-0 and 1-0 and Tecumseh 12-1.
Stats: Callen Golloway and Payton Miller each had a home run, while Jace Beck struck out 11 in the first game against Byng. Kale Miller homered for the only run in the second game. Golloway, Tyler Henry and Bryce Madron all homered against Tecumseh.
This week: Cache on Tuesday, Mustang on Friday.

14. (16) Benedictine (Richmond, Va.), 19-0
Results: Defeated Steward (Richmond) 10-7 and Collegiate (Richmond) 14-0.
Stats: Jack Hall hit a home run against Steward while Brett Cook had a home run and Casey Green had two doubles against Collegiate.
This week: Highland (Warrenton) on Tuesday, Miller (Charlottesville) on Wednesday, Fuqua (Farmville) on Thursday.

15. (19) Calvary Christian Academy (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), 17-1
Results: Defeated Hialeah Educational Academy 8-1, Westminster Academy (Fort Lauderdale) 2-1 and Sports Leadership & Management (Miami) 6-5 (8).
Stats: Dante Girardi and Tyler Knierim each homered against Hialeah, Mykanthony Valdez hit one out against Westminster and Ben Rozenblum was 3-for-3 against SLAM.
This week: Southridge (Miami) on Tuesday, Doral Academy on Thursday, North Broward Prep (Coconut Creek) on Saturday.

16. (22) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.), 18-1
Results: Defeated St. Laurence (Burbank, Ill.) 8-2, Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights, Ill.) 12-1, Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) 7-5 and Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) 9-0.
Stats: Kyle Harrison had a home run against St. Laurence, Chris Santiago went 4-for-5 against Marian, Blake Burke was 3-for-3 against Don Bosco Prep and Jared Amigh was 3-for-4 against Bishop Gorman.
This week: Dougherty Valley (San Ramon) on Wednesday, Monte Vista (Danville) on Friday, Whitney (Rocklin) on Saturday.



17. (9) St. Laurence (Burbank, Ill.), 19-1
Results: Lost to De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) 8-2, defeated Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) 8-3, Marian Catholic (Chicago Heights, Ill.) 8-2, S. Louis (Honolulu) 6-4.
Stats: Marc Babicz went 3-for-3 with two RBI against Don Bosco Prep, Matt Dornbos had a home run against Marian Catholic, and they both had two hits against St. Louis.
This week: Marmion (Aurora, Ill.) on Monday, St. Rita (Chicago) on Tuesday and Thursday, Providence Catholic (New Lenox) on Saturday.

18. (23) East Lake (Tarpon Springs, Fla.), 18-0
Results: Defeated Tampa Prep 11-1 and St. Petersburg 8-3.
Stats: Sean Murray had a double and a triple against Tampa Prep. Josh Pigozzo and Lucas Ismaili each went 3-for-4 against St. Petersburg.
This week: St. Petersburg on Monday, Clearwater on Wednesday, Palm Harbor University on Thursday.

19. (NR) Buchanan (Clovis, Calif.), 22-2
Record: Defeated Bullard (Fresno) 6-0, Stockdale (Bakersfield) 9-7, Cosumnes Oaks 9-1 and Oakmont (Roseville) 3-2.
Stats: Brady Hormel and Jacob King each had a home run against Stockdale, Brock Jones and TJ Fondtain each had a home run against Cosumnes Oaks, Miguel Ortiz hit one against Oakmont.
This week: Clovis East on Wednesday and Friday.

20. (NR) Farragut (Knoxville, Tenn.), 28-2
Record: Defeated Maryville 16-0, Greeneville 4-0, Powell 11-1, Bartlett 9-2 and Davidson Academy 7-1.
Stats: Parker Noland had a home run against Maryville. Hunter Merrick threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts against Greeneville. Noland had a double and a home run against Powell. Noland also had a home run against Bartlett and two doubles against Davidson Day.
This week: Bearden on Monday, Maryville on Tuesdasy, Heritage on Wednesday, Oak Ridge on Thursday.

21. (NR) Sam Houston (Lake Charles, La.), 30-4
Record: Defeated Barbe 10-3 and Sulphur 8-1.
Stats: Silas Ardoin and Brandon Goodeaux each homered against Barbe. Ardoin went 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBI against Sulphur.
This week: Playoffs.

22. (8) Barbe (Lake Charles, La.), 29-3
Results: Lost to Sam Houston (Lake Charles) 10-3, beat Acadiana (Lafayette) 5-4.
Stats: Davis Meche went 2-for-3 with a double in the loss to Sam Houston and 2-for-4 with a double against Acadiana.
This week: Playoffs.



23. (NR) Prosper (Texas), 26-4
Record: Defeated Allen 4-2 and 8-0.
Stats: Luke Johnson had two hits and four RBI while Braedon Webb had two hits.
This week: Bi-district play.

24. (NR) Mosley (Lynn Haven, Fla.), 18-1
Record: Defeated Wakulla 2-0 and Leon 3-0.
Stats: Blake Vineyard hit a home run against Wakulla. Jaden Rudd and Brayden Gainey combined for a one-hit shutout against Leon.
This week: Arnold (Panama City Beach) on Monday, Pace on Tuesday, South Walton (Santa Rosa Beach) on Friday.

25. (17) Nova (Davie, Fla.), 19-1
Results:
Defeated McArthur 6-4 and Everglades 5-2, lost to Western Branch 6-2.
Stats: Jordon Campbell was 2-for-3 with a double against McArthur, Zakary Majer had a double in the loss to Western Branch.
