Football Recap: Pickens Academy Falls to Berry in First Game of Season

Pickens Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 51-28 to the Berry Wildcats on Friday. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-6.

Ayden Lake Norris had a dynamite game For Berry., rushing for 254 yards and five TDs while picking up 14.1 yards per carry. Lake Norris' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 144 rushing yards dating back to last season. Ashton Waltrip made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Pickens Academy and Berry will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Pirates will square off against rival Linden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Berry is set to challenge their familiar foe Marion County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
